Sales & VAT Tax Platform + Other Updates

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been very busy updating and upgrading Content Shelf.  Now, our clients will see the following…

New Sales Tax / VAT Tax Platform Platform

Content Shelf now uses a Tax Class Platform. This platform allows clients to set a class of taxes based upon product types, countries, or whatever is necessary. Within a Tax Class, clients can create as many tax rates as needed—it’s unlimited. Each time a buyer checks out and his/her order fits within the Tax Class, the tax will appear in the check out process and be charged to the buyer.

Clients will also be able to adjust taxation at the item level by enabling the default class, by selecting another class, or by choosing not to tax at all.

This new Tax Class Platform is not only good for sales tax, but it works for our clients that need to charge a VAT tax as well.

While we permit unlimited tax rates, manual input is required.  All clients desiring bulk tax rate input, please let us know.  For a small fee, we’ll gladly write a script to upload a spreadsheet to your account.

Multiple Product Purchases with Multiple Options

When Content Shelf launched, we missed a vital feature that allows the purchase of multiple same-item tangible products with different options.

For example: if a buyer wanted to purchase two small t-shirts, one in blue and one in red, it could not be done.

We are happy to announce that we have since updated our system to allow this!

Policy Update

We have updated our system to allow an additional 48 hours of online time for accounts that fail to pay.

What this means: if you are a paying client and your card is declined, we’ll suspend your account but will not shut down access for buyers (store and content) for 48 hours after the failed transaction. If for some reason payment information is not provided within 48 hours, all access to the store and content will be suspended until payment is made. Account suspensions are only 30 days long; if payment is not made within 30 days of the failed transaction, the account will be converted to a Lite Account and all data will be purged.

This policy amendment was added to help our “paying” clients in case they are out of the office or unable to make immediate payment arrangements.

This policy change does NOT affect free trial accounts. Remember, however, if payment information for a free trial account is not provided prior to the expiration of the free trial, the account will be converted to a Lite Account and all data will be purged.
